Should I wait or go to the doctor's (for a UTI)?

I'm suspecting that I have a UTI infection (burning feeling while urinating, pain and sometimes there's blood in the urine). It's not getting any worse, but isn't getting a whole lot better either. Should I wait to see if it'll go away or should I go in and get it checked out? I've never had an infection like this before...

How long have you had the symptoms of a UTI? While it could be a urinary tract infection, if you are sexually active with multiple partners or one who is not monogamous, it could be a sexually transmitted infection. It sounds most likely to be a UTI. If the symptoms have only been for a few days, try drinking plenty of water and 100% cranberry juice throughout the day. NO other beverages besides the two I mentioned.

If you have had your symptoms for more than a week, I'd go to your health care provider asap to rule out UTI and anything else. While UTIs can be treated at home with natural remedies, you have to act fast otherwise the bacteria can spread very easily to the bladder and from the bladder to the kidneys. Once the infection reaches the kidneys, the infection is very serious.

UTIs can be prevented by always wiping from your vulva area to your anal area (front to back) and never from back to front as you can transfer fecal bacteria (E.coli) to the urethra which sits above the vagina. It is also important to urinate before and after sexual intercourse to flush out any bacteria that may have entered the urethra during the act.

If you have a fever or experience any pain in your lower back, you MUST get help!

    I hope this helps.

im not a woman - but no you should go get antis asap. if you do nothing, and yes it does sound like a uti, i dont think you would like the consequences of letting it go. a tattoo is one thing - but thats 'chosen' permenant damage.

You have already waited, and it's not getting better.

Go get the help you need, before it moves up into your kidneys,

    and causes real problems
