POLL: Do You Believe In Ghosts?

Simple Question For A Simple Yes or No Answer... If You Would Like To Explain Your Answer That's Okay Too... DO YOU BELIEVE THAT GHOSTS ARE REAL???

In A Recent Survey I Conducted, 27% of Americans Said They Have Experienced / Witnessed Paranormal Activity, and Just Over 48% of Americans Say They Believe In The Existence of Ghosts... While Another 9% Said They Haven't Experienced Anything Paranormal and They Don't Believe or Disbelieve In Ghosts, But Are Open Minded To The Possibility of The Existence of Ghosts and Paranormal Activity.

Now I'm Interested In Seeing What People Who Find This Question Here On Yahoo Answers Think About This. Do You Believe In Ghosts? Thanks For Answeing, and Even Though I'm A Paranormal Investigator I Don't Mind That You Don't Believe, I'm Just Looking For Honest Answers.

Thanks Everyone --- Phillip Brunelle

Yes, ghosts are definitely real. Maybe other people won't agree, but until they see a ghost, or live in or go to a haunted house or place with paranormal activity, they won't know for sure. You really have to experience ghosts and something paranormal to know that it exists.

After living in a haunted house growing up as a child, I have to say that yes, I do believe in ghosts and have witnessed a lot of paranormal activity in one of the creepiest haunted houses ever. Glad I don't live there anymore and have to go through any of that now, but me and my whole family knows first hand that ghosts are real.

My answer is yes. I'm from the south and my house is around an area that is investigated all the time by paranormal groups and television shows, and a lot of people around here believe that our entire neighborhood is haunted, since everyone has paranormal stuff happening in their houses around here.

Yes, I believe that ghosts are real, and I've experienced paranormal activity myself too. I've done many stories on the topic and I'm hoping you get a successful poll on here, because I'm curious to see the results. I might even reach out to a few people answering this poll for a comment on a piece I could put together. Thanks for the poll and good luck getting lots of responses! G.B.

Absolutely yes! I have been a believer since I was a very young child. For some reason they seem to be attracted to me everywhere I go (or should I say move). It took me many years to accept this. I seem to be magnetic to them. I usually know that they are around because I can hear their voices, smell their scents (pleasant & unpleasant), often times they will touch me. I have seen several apparitions through out my life, but for me this is uncommon. (although I recently saw a little blonde girl walking into my bathroom a few weeks ago). I don't use any scientific technologies or methods to prove or disprove them to myself or anyone else. I am a bona fide believer & feel fortunate that I have the understanding that I do about this phenomenon.I get a thrill out witnessing skeptics "cross over" to believers. For me, I feel like I have a complete knowledge of the full circle of life. Life after life (= Knowledge is power!

Source(s): The source to my answer is myself and my experiences since childhood. Specifically, there was a house in Los Angeles that I spent many years in that was very active (a man committed suicide in the attic). I was between the ages of ten until fifteen. Then as an adult, five years ago there was a very active house in Sacramento. This house in Sacramento is where I witnessed my own teenage daughters turn from skeptics to believers. As well as the house I grew up in and every house I have lived in since.

Unfortunately I have never had an encounter with ghosts, but I do have a few family members that have, as well as a close friend of mine who lived in a haunted house.

Excellent responses you're getting here so far, and I too hope this poll is successful. We wouldn't mind following up on this data to use for future stories this year and if anyone who answers this has any experiences that you want to share, you're welcome to contact us. If not, we just might contact you hoping to get a comment for the ghost stories that stand out.

Very interesting poll. It would be great to see some updated results on this for 2012 and I hope to see the final results of this and your other polls if you have any. Oh, and to answer your question, I love horror films and I'm very open-minded, but I haven't experienced anything paranormal in my life as of yet worth mentioning. Can't wait to see what others have to say though!

I believe... We had to move our children out of our house only two months after buying it when there were very bizarre things happening in our home. I agree with the other person who answered above when they said people have to experience things to believe in ghosts, because honestly I never believed in ghosts before, but after we bought that house, I can never again say that I don't believe in ghosts.

We didn't have a typical haunting either, it was considered a poltergeist haunting because of the type of paranormal activity going on. It was more than just bumps in the night and glimpses of shadows in the corner of your eye... This thing wanted to be seen and known it was in that house!!

It would throw things around, turn lights on and off over and over again, sometimes the lights would flicker on and off for close to an hour in some of the rooms, and it loved to destroy our kitchen. About three times a week, sometimes more, but never less than three times a week, we would hear this loud crashing noise come from the kitchen, and by the time we made it into the kitchen, literally everything was trashed.

It was a scene from a horror movie! Every one of the cabinet doors would be open and everything was thrown out of the cabinets. After this happened for the seventh time and I had already replaced some dishes and glasses twice because of too many of them breaking, I got fed up with it.

Our two children were (still are young) at the time my daughter was only 7 months old and my son was 2 and 1/2. And since he was now walking around, I was concerned that he would get out of my sight during these poltergeist attacks and that he would get hurt by either something being thrown at him, or even from the glass on the floor from the things this ghost would break throughout the house.

We had no choice but to move out, only two months after we bought the house, because no matter what we did for it to stop, it didn't work. We got to the point where we got those child-proof safety hooks that you put on the lower cabinets to stop your kids from getting into the cabinets and we had to put them on every cabinet, including the ones that were just higher than even I could reach.

We have been in this new house for a few months now. We had to rent the home that we are in now until we work out some legal issues with the real estate agent on the other home, and hopefully we can find a way to back out of the sale or try to get the house sold and somehow break even on our initial investment. The real estate agent suggested that we rent it out, but I could never do that with a clear conscience, knowing everything that we went through in that house within the first two months of living there.

Sorry for the long winded story, but I wanted to share why it is that I didn't believe in ghosts before, but do now. If you ever experience a poltergeist haunting, I think that aside from something more serious, like a demonic haunting or possession, that a poltergeist haunting is one of the most scariest situations that you can be in... not to mention that above and beyond the fear factor, it's a very destructive ghost and can get very costly to keep buying and replacing everything once a week.
