How many people agree with Bill O'Reilly: Viagra can be covered by health care plans but not contraception?

He says impotence is a medical conditional but the wish for contraception is a personal choice.

BQ:

Are you male or female?

Approx age?

BQ II: If it's not too rude to ask: What would you say is your political orientation?

Update:

Quote from O'Reilly.

"Nobody is saying that American women should be denied insurance coverage if something is physically wrong with them, and that’s what Viagra covers for men, so this is B.S. And by the way, nobody is denying women birth control either, it’s on sale everywhere…Men need to be physically in shape, so, why don’t we pick up gym memberships, that's a health issue, right?”

I am sick to death of conservatives pretending that their Corporate Structures are Saintly Calvinistic Work Ethic practicing and we should all take off our hats and salute them for their Godliness and Purity of Work Ethic. I am sick to death of this issue. I live in the United States. I am a fiscal conservative but I abhor hypocrisy. The Corporate Cronyism that goes on between the Government and the Corporations that Right Winger O'Reilly worships and holds in high esteem is sick making.

And for him to wave the flag of raising his pole and having it paid for while women are considered "sluts" for sleeping with him is a moral outrage. I personally have had enough of this bullsh!t issue and wish we were done with it but we won't be until that freak Santorum bites the collective dust of Christians United for Israel. Be sure if he becomes our president that he will declare war on Iran to start Armageddon and the cleansing of the earth so the Israelites, God's people, can be converted to Christianity before they are also "left behind"

I am a 24 yo female and I am definitely one of those crazy liberals people like Bill O'Reilly keep warning everyone about.

When I chose to go on the birth control pill, YAZ, I was a virgin and didn't become sexually active until almost 2 years later, so for me the birth control part of it was more a side effect. I did it because I have severe depression and anxiety as well as a condition called premenstrual dismorphic disorder (pmdd) and was having irregular periods. PMDD sucks for any woman who has it, but on top of my other issues it was a nightmare. Every month I was thrown into a crippling depression. If I was already depressed, it was just another 100 pound weight suffocating me. I couldn't leave the house, often couldn't get out of bed and cried constantly. I was so irritable, i had to isolate myself so I didn't just scream at everyone. After taking YAZ, obviously it didn't solve all my problems, but it did severely lessen my pmdd, to the level where I would consider it pretty normal pms (aka I get weepy thinking about the lion king, but I don't want to murder anyone.) If I were not taking this pill, it is very likely I would have committed suicide at some point within the last few years. Regular depression is hard enough to get through, but throwing that crap on top of it would have eventually broken me.

So no, I don't agree. Covering Viagra is fine with me, because he is right about impotence being a medical condition, but my contraceptive is also used to treat a medical condition. And I know there are many women in similar situations. I know some contraceptives can help with other issues, but I don't know a lot about them. I will just stick with my experiences for now. I absolutely believe that contraception should be covered by all health care plans. And it should be readily available to any woman who needs it.

Totally disagree because in some cases there are more pressing medical reasons that have nothing to do with sex for a woman to be on the pill, men do not have a life or death medical need to get an erection that I know of.

I am male, (last time i checked, I am rather forgetful ) 37 years young.

I would say I am a socialist but also a swing voter, I was once a right wing sympathizer long ago and was of a more moderate view a few years ago, the more I learn it seems, the more the left makes sense.

I only occasionally agree with O'Reilly, and definitely not on this one. Three separate problems here: first, what goes on between a person and their doctor is private, Government needs to keep out; second, what an insurance company should pay is between the person purchasing the insurance and the person buying it, the only interest government has is if one side fails to honor the contract; third, there are various religions that have objections to providing some services, not just contraception, and do not provide that in the policies they buy. That's under freedom of religion and government needs to keep out, and people who want those services need to find other providers.

I'm reasonably sure if I were making the rules about sex and insurance O'Reilly and the liberals would all be looking to lynch me, as my beliefs usually manage to offend them all. I tolerate them as long they tolerate me.

My political beliefs are somewhere near Ron Paul's but without the Hippocratic oath. I keep the peace so I can enjoy the peace, but once the shooting starts, I aim to kill as efficiently as I can and with the goal of minimizing my bother.

NO, both should not be covered, and no one should pay for some one Else's, period. Never before have I heard so much talk about Viagra etc... darn wonder what them guys back in 100 or so years ago did, to get it up. Are were men just more manly back then than now... who knows. NO again, if they want birth control, the need to buy it them self, if a man wants Viagra, he needs to do the same. Besides as the old saying goes, what can't get up, can't get out.

I am an 18 year old male that is a moderate independent. I disagree with bill because neither Viagra nor contraception be covered. Health insurance is a joke, people would not need it if they actually took care of themselves.

  • That is just further proof that the religious wrong is all for getting you pregnant, and against stopping pregnancies. I've been saying for years they are not just anti abortion, they are anti contraception too.
