A box contains the eleven letters, MISSISSIPPI. Four letters are drawn one by one with replacement and recorded in order. What is the probability that the outcome is SIPS?

Probability = number of outcomes that will satisfy your requirements divided by number of total possible outcomes. So:
Ps (probability of S) = 4/11
Pi = 4/11
Pp = 2/11
Ps = 4/11
To get the probability of those 4 being picked, you multiply the answers together:
(4/11) x (4/11) x (2/11) x (4/11) = 128/14641
and that is your answer: 128 out of 14641
