What happens if i download licensed software?

I want to download Easy Paint Tool Sai full for free but read that it's illegal to buy licensed software. My friend got it full for free and I'm worried she could get in trouble, but if it's not illegal, please say so, I want it. But alas as I am broke. (:

It is illegal to download paid for software for free. Plus, the so called free version, could give your computer a virus! Buy the software legally or use 100% free software.

Here is a list of other digital art software programs that are used for drawing and painting on the computer. To guarantee a virus-free program, always download the software from the manufacturer's OFFICIAL website only!

    100% FREE SOFTWARE

    1. Artweaver by Boris Eyrich Software. (Artweaver Free)

    2. Gimp by The Gimp Team http://www.gimp.org/

    3. Krita by Krita http://krita.org/

    4. MyPaint by InTiLinux http://mypaint.intilinux.com/

    5. SmoothDraw http://www.smoothdraw.com/

    FREE TRIAL/PAID FOR SOFTWARE

    1. Adobe Photoshop by Adobe Systems Inc.

    2. ArtRage by Ambient Design Ltd

    3. Artweaver by Boris Eyrich Software. (Artweaver Plus)

    4. Autodesk Sketchbook Pro by Autodesk Inc

    5. Corel Painter 12 by Corel Corporation

    6. Corel Painter Essentials by Corel Corporation

    7. DrawPlus by Serif

    8. Flame Painter by Escape Motions (Peter Blaskovic)

    9. OpenCanvas by PGN Corp. (PortalGraphics.Net)

    10. Paint Tool Sai by Systemax Inc.

    11. Project Dogwaffle by Daz 3D

    12. TwistedBrush by Pixarra Inc.

NOTE: Adobe Photoshop and Gimp were specifically designed for photo editing and image manipulation of real photographs but people have come to use them as a drawing and painting program also. There will probably be limited drawing and painting capabilities using these two programs. Look at these artworks created from scratch in Adobe Photoshop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsTgmD5xWwk&feature... Gimp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeTYI4MFXdg

Yes, it's illegal. Legally, you face a fine between $750.00 and $150,000.00 as well as yup to five years in prison. Realistically, you're more likely to get a virus of some sort.

It is not legal to download commercial software without paying for it. Besides there are lots of free alternatives, like this one for example: http://www.getpaint.net/
