(Geforce GT 540m vs Geforce GTX 560m) Is the GTX 560m really better than the GT 540m?

Question

I'm buying a laptop and I'm still trying to work some things out. The GTX series is supposed to be superior when it comes to gaming but I looked up Mass Effect 3 with max settings and they were only using the GT 540m. So is it really worth spending the extra money on the GTX 560m? 

Note: If you could, it would be very helpful to list some games that could be ran on max settings for both of the graphic cards.

The GTX 560m is actually over twice as fast as the GT 540m. It's a worthy upgrade indeed.

With that said the GTX 560m is about as fast as the GTS 450 desktop card. So it's pretty much low-mid range when comparing all video cards. But ME3 isn't terribly demanding so it should be able to max it out without too much trouble. The GT 540m will run ME3, but it won't max it out.

Chances as the videos you saw with people running ME3 at max settings on a GT 540m were either running the game at welfare resolutions like 1024x1024 or less, and/or had the AF and AA turned off.

The 560 will be significantly better. The 540 has 96 shaders vs 192  in the 560, aka half. Between the two, I'd estimate the 560 to run 50-75% faster. The 560 may be able to max games, it depends on your res. Either way, it should provide decent performance with some eye candy on.

If you get the one with the gtx560m it will last longer because you cant upgrade the graphics and you can still play more games in the future
