Presume you are referring to a personal medicine bag which would hold various stones, bone fetishes, feathers, etc. which, when carried would provide either power or protection for the bearer. Would seriously doubt if any of the Ancient Ones would have done without some sort of protection very similar in manner to what modern people do in today's times. They wear Religious jewelry such as a cross necklace, a Star of David necklace, or they carry a four leaf clover, a particular " good luck " coin or piece of jewelry such as a Shamrock.

Modern people of today still have superstitions while many seem willing to carry something on them for " good luck " in order to help prevent bad luck from coming their way.

Believe this is what you're referring to rather than a medical kit containing various types of antiseptic medications, aspirin, bandages, etc.

Do you carry a first aid kit in your car? I do. In my purse too. My children have them in their backpacks. I am sure this is a common practice world wide...even in this era.

Now, I know in Europe there were ancient peoples who knew a lot about natural medicine and healing, but were burned alive by the uneducated and unhygienic Christians. For some reason, washing yourself regularly and brushing your teeth was the work of a witch, so if you got caught carrying around of bag of salves and herbs, Im sure you'd get stoned to death, drowned or burned. The practice of carrying around medicine probably disappeared really quickly. I mean hell, the medical scholars Christianity produced insisted all one had to do to rid themselves of any ailment was cut open some veins and bleed. (thank god they've learned better now, eh?) I know in my ex-husbands country, where there are poisonous animals and snakes and whatnot, people in the villages carry around herbal remedies and things that would help them if they brush up against a poisonous plant or got bitten by a snake or something.
