Ok, first off no one can possibly answer this. We don't know if it is 3rd or 4th gen since you included both and we don't know what iOS you are using. When you find those out, simply google search how to jailbreak iPod ___generation on ios ___. You will find loads of guides, and it is pretty easy. But, keep in mind this voids all warranty, you can brick your device, and it may run slower than you would like. Also, as stated before, if it is ios 5.1 then it isn't currently possible since apple patches it with every security update.
