Online defamation of character.?

I just found out that some piece of crap posted my picture/name/phone number with VERY malicious graphic FALSE info. I have their IP address from them posting this in some weird wiki edit thing. 69.122.172.156. It claims to be out of New York. How can I find out exactly who they are; or what would my first step be in taking action against them?

What site was it on? Have you tried contacting site administrators and requesting the info be removed? If that doesn't work, I guess that could be classified as Libel Defamation. I can't tell you anything else, I'm no lawyer.

You contact a lawyer and he will file a lawsuit and you can get all of this information with subpoenas.
