My neighbor poisons the animals on our block can i press charges?
Ok so last yeah i had gotten a new house next to this old grumpy man and his wife. he hated having us as neighbors so bad he put up a fence. well we had Rottweiler twin dogs and we also put our own fence up around our whole yard. well our fence is connected to his. so when i would let my dogs out for the day they would run around and wrestle. well eventually he got "sick and tired" of our dogs, he never wanted to hear them bark he always called animal control and even called the police because he said our back yard smelled like dog poop. we were doing nothing wrong so he decided to start throwing poisoned meat over the fence and throwing mothballs over the fence well our dogs ate them and they got sick and slowly died. this broke my heart and made me angry. well the next dogs we got were 2 sister Siberian huskies. they were very quiet and when they went outside i went out with them and watched everything they did and sniffed. one day i literally saw our neighbor throw moth balls over the fence while i was outside with them!! i called the police and animal control and all they did was talk to him and of course he denied it. my question is can i get him into trouble for poisoning our dogs. and its not just our pets he leaves out poisoned moist cat food and tuna (with rat poison in it) and will feed a stray or loose dog poisoned meat if it approaches him. what a jerk i just want some justice done here but can he get into trouble for killing animals like this?
well yes our old dogs are now passed away but we still have our two huskies that he is trying to poison. i picked up the mothballs that he threw over the fence and took them over to him and he denied it all. so i was wondering if he can get into trouble because he is in the process of trying to kill our dogs.
also we did not know he was poisoning our dogs until after our rottweilers were gone. we adopted 2 huskies afterwards and one of them got sick so i decided to watch what was going on. and this is what i have seen so far. he puts out cat dishes of rat poisoned food throws over moth balls and threw over chunks of meat we took it to the vets office and it had rat poison all over it. so if i had known that he was doing this to our other dogs of course i would have done a lot more. but now i am NOT going to let him kill our other dogs. they dont ever go outside without me watching them. also in the state i live in it is not a felony to abuse animals. but they are in the process of making it a felony.

You need to contact the district attorney and keep calling the police. Yes, he can get into trouble, and even be charged with a felony. There has to be proof.

Of course! Put up a security camera and don't let your animals out of the yard. Also, about the dog poop, he's probably lying. Dried dog poo doesn't have a smell unless your yard is like full of it (literally, like, to the top of the fence). And about the barking, they can only seize the dogs if it's 10 minutes or more of NONSTOP, continual barking or yelping. I know this isn't the right way to handle this, but personally I would pick up all the dog poop, and throw it over HIS fence every time he poisoned an animal. Don't do that- I just said that because with me being pretty immature; I would have done it :D. Just put up a camera, and supervise your dogs at all time. Also teach them to 'leave it' (and make sure they are obedient) so if he does do it while they're out there, you can tell them to leave it and they should listen. Tell him you have a camera now, and there will be horrible consequences if he poisons ONE more of you animals.

You need to prove to them that he did that.
Your witness testimony might help. A video of your own backyard catching pieces of meat or mothballs being thrown over the fence from his place would help further more. Say you want to press charges.

Yes you should be able to press animal cruelty charges against him. But try to get some. Evidence of him doing these things for example film him putting out posion and they should have no problem convicting him.
Btw if he would have killed my dogs I would have burned his house down with him in it, him killing your dogs is just like killing one of your family members.

The DA presses charges, not citizens. You called the police, they handled it. Animal control would have also contract the DA if they thought you were correct.
Moth balls are actually used to the Humane society to repel animals (such as a raccoon that is under your house). Putting them into your grass should be legal, as it would deter the dogs from the yard. I have never heard of anything eating one.

YES! This is horrible. Try to get it on video, maybe set up a surveillance camera.

You've already contacted the police, that is all you can do. You apparently have no proof, so there is nothing anyone can do.
