I'm confused by Tim's answer, because I'm not totally convinced Leroy Brown was baddest for the greater goodest, or he was actually goodest for the greater baddest.

I think what Croce was trying to convey, was not "baddest" meaning "baddest" but "baddest" meaning "goodest". I read a book that allowed me understand street language.
