How do I figure out inequality problems like this?

Plug s = 4 into the inequality.

1 ≥

s

1 ≥

4

Plug in s = 4

It is false that 1 ≥ 4. So, s = 4 is not a solution.

I don't understand how it comes up with this answer.

I never learned about this in algebra.

Where can I start by testing myself as a beginner?

Update:

I don't understand your explanations.

How did they figure out S when they showed nothing else on the screen except that it equaled to 4?

    1 ≥ s => if 1 is greater or equal than s, then:

    s ≤ 1 => s is smaller or equal than 1

    So s can be:

    1 , 0 , -1 , -2 etc

    S = 4 in inequality sign can be s >/ 4,as s greater than or equal to 4,or s \< 4,as s lesser than or equal to 4.
