I need a PS3 with 3.55. But I need an excuse to tell the shop assistant?
Im going to call gamestation and see if they have any ps3s for sale with fw 3.55 or less, there is a naughty reason behind this and they will probably catch on but I can avoid embarrassment if I can make a good enough excuse!
If it was an xbox I would simply say its because I like the old dashboard, the new 1 is too confusing and I wont be going online.. but
I've never had a ps3 before so I need one of you guys to think of a similar reason! perhaps they have disabled some feature at one point?

look on ebay for a 3.55cfw ps3
also you can NOT play online or use the psn store with a 3.55fw ps3

There is nothing illegal about owning a PS3 with an older firmware. Technically, you have the right to do what you want with the PS3 once you buy it, which means it is LEGAL for you to Jailbreak the PS3.
Using any pirated software is illegal (obviously what you do with a Jailbreaked PS3), but Jailbreaking a device you own is not illegal.
Anyone working at an electronics store that specializes in gaming systems will know why you want a PS3 with an older firmware, so there is no excuse you can use, and since it is not illegal to own a PS3 with an older firmware, there is no reason to make up an excuse in the first place.
If they ask why you want a PS3 with firmware 3.55, then they are not as educated as they should be for working in a gaming store, and all you have to tell them is because you want it, no reason to give an explanation (or excuse).

I don't really think they can do much considering you just want a specific firmware. If I had to think about something it would be that they removed the OS option from the PS3 where you could run Linux and certain emulators.

Theres nothing different about 3.55 just ask him upfront, do you have a ps3 running on firmware 3.55 if they ask why just say thats the only one you want, say your buying it for your cousin and he told you to ask for that firmware, they cant say anything after that, theyre only there to sell it not to question you and you havent done anything illegal with it yet so dont worry they cant say or do anything.

I think that would be weird,since you aren't supposed to have PS3s with old fw,but here's a good idea:Go to any website and try finding a PS3 with that fw,most of them are used so you should be careful.Apart from that try telling them that you need this specific fw for whatever reason and tell them you won't be going online.Good luck

Just say that the new firmware messed up your Sony wireless headset. They new firmware did this so you can use that as an excuse.
