2003 fiat punto 1.2 16V revs up randomly? Any Ideas?
I have a 2003 1.2 16v Fiat Punto Dynamic (face lifted model) and it seems to rev up on its own accord. Can someone help me with this and perhaps find out whats wrong with it?

air leaks are main issues and an idle speed control valve issue. we cannot rule out sensor issues eg throttle pedal . have you checked fuel filter? pressure?

If it was mine I would start by checking the air pipes and vacuum hoses around the engine, listen hard to any strange noises when the problem occurs, make sure your air flow regulator is working, give it a tap when the car plays up, if all this seems ok then get it on a diagnostic check, this costs around £40 but make sure they have an unto date system, good luck

There's a pipe that comes from the cam box,top left of the engine,and splits into two,one end goes to the underside of the air filter housing and the other,smaller pipe goes to the inlet manifold,they can leak,break or come off,that's where I'd look.
