Don't you think the whole Kony thing is overhyped?

I feel like there is something fishy about it because genocides has happened before and is still happeneing in some parts of the world that are more serious but they never got any single attention from mainstream media. Why there is so much hype about this and I can't find one article in internet that would explain the whole story well enough to answered my what, why, where, how, and when.

    100% scam.

    Here is why:

The video basically sponsors Obama, on the year of election.

Notice how Obama sent in troops shortly after he found out that Uganda had as much, if not more oil than Iraq?

Notice how EVERYBODY that watches it thinks they've become a modern day Gandhi and claim they know 'Everything' about Joseph Kony. Most of them don't even know his first name!

Notice how nobody bothers to acknowledge what the 'charity' isn't doing? It isn't donating the money fairly, it isn't doing enough, most charities set up by a guy that was horrified by living conditions for kids in Uganda generally donate al the money, minus a small percentage for running the charity. They don't spend it all on the charity, minus the small percent for Ugandan children.

All the above is true. Absolutely, anyone that thinks otherwise is dumber than a lamppost.

    Pure media overhype.

And, the creator is a mental loon! Running around masturbating in public. But, what REALLY pisses me off about that, is the people following him say 'it's all good! Just 'cos he wanked in public doesn't make him a bad man, just a paedophilic mental nut that deserves more love!' pathetic! They STILL support him! If I did that, mothers would throw bricks at me and call me scum!

How about the fact that this has been going on for decades yet a majority of Yahoo Answerers had never heard of it?

I say this because I've been using the LRA a an example of Christian terrorists for years. A shocking number of Yahoo Users would then deny that this group even existed.

Your rationale is "there are other genocides, why pay attention to this horrific one?"

What you're seeing here is merely the use of viral marketing to bring attention to atrocities. Just as one might point to George Clooney's use of a network tv show to focus attention on the Sudan a decade ago.

I'm pretty sure it's just a cover up for the U.S to get some oil. Supposedly it's been going on for years, so why should we care now.

Source(s): It's way to overhyped, probably a scam too.
