Which Final Fantasy game should I play? I have never played a jrpg.?
So ive heard how the Final fantasy games are fun to play and i want to play one. the problem is that i have never played a japanese rpg. My favorite genre of video games was platformer and first person shooter but then i got bored by too many fps games. So i started playing rpgs like skyrim, Fallout New vegas, and knights of the old republic. I decided to try out a final fantasy game and i bought one for the iphone. I think its called final fantasy 3, the thing that bores be about the gameplay is that i dont like turn based combat. I want to know where the enemy is and not get a surprise attack. I only like that type of combat in the pokemon games. So i deleted final fantasy 3, but know im thinking that maybe i should give jrpgs another chance. Which final fantasy game would you recommend and if there are other good jrpg's that i am missing please tell me. I am currently playing half life 1 for the first time so i need to finish it and then i could play another game. I know the Final fantasy games are on different platforms so ill list the consoles i have. Playstation 1, playstation 2, Wii, Game boy advance, ipod touch, PC. I also have a broken xbox that i might be able to fix.

Final Fantasy 4 6 7 9 and 10 are usually considered the best, you can get 4 and 6 for gba, 7 and 9 for ps1, and 10 is for ps2. My favorite is 10.

If you love RPG's with branching story paths and free roaming and quests and the sort, then FFXIII is probably not the sort of RPG you're after. It is very pretty with some interesting characters, and the battle system does get interesting after 15-20 hours or so. There are a few typical Final Fantasy elements here (like the magic abilities and some enemies and stuff) but each numbered Final Fantasy game is not really a sequel - it's got its own world and story and characters, so you don't really need to have played any of the others to enjoy XIII.

Playstation 1 - Start with 7, then go from there. 5-9 is available for ps1
Playstation 2 - definitely start with ten
Gba - I think FF iv is for this one. Not sure.
Touch - the app store has FF 1-3, I wouldn't recommend u start with those though, u shouldn't even play them unless u wanna

I recommend final fantasy VII(7) it is an amazing game
It's a 1997 game so don't expect skyrim graphics

Based on your likes, I think your best bet would be Final Fantasy XII. The battle system isn't turned based and all the monsters are seen and fought on the map. No random encounters. XIII is also good at that in that there are no surprise attacks. You see the mosters and can avoid them if desired.

Start from 7 to 10 (Playstation). Tactics (Playstation & PSP & GBA) & is good as well.
12 has a different battle style.

you will probably get different answers from everyone because they each have a favorite. My favorite is 10, but it has turn based combat and random encounters so idk if you would like it. 13 sounds like more your thing, but beware because that game was considered the worst game in the FF series lol. the battle system was great though
