I have an English assignment where we could choose between a few topics and I chose the global financial crisis. We received a paper with instructions and things we must include and one of them is "discuss your topic". Any suggestions on how to discuss the financial crisis?

I would start with the cause of the crisis:

You could finish off by discussing the various ways that Governments are trying to beat recession including trying to fund regeneration, and trying to introduce cut-backs.

Discuss could mean the effect it had on politics, culture, etc in just your country or the whole world, or who is to blame or how and if it can be prevented from happen again.

Take a look at different ideas about who or what caused it (greedy bankers, negligent government, ignorant home-buyers etc.) and come to your own conclusion based on the evidence.
