Mouse and Keyboard or Controller, and why?

Please state your prefers method of aiming in First Person Shooters. Don't just state "controller because its easier" or "mouse because its more precise" state WHY it is easier/more precise etc.

Update:

I am not asking because I am trying to decide on a controlling system, I am already a dedicated PC gamer, I am asking because I am wondering what other people think.

Controller because there is no hand cramps after continues play. Also because it gives a distinct advantage over keyboard and mouse because analog sticks are much easier to aim with. also all of the buttons are closer together and slightly faster to access which helps a lot when push comes to shove.

I like mouse and keyboard. The keyboard or keypads offer more buttons where are a controller is well limited. Personally I can't aim for **** with a controller, the pointer just slopply moves all over the screen passing up everything I want there for having to back track to tap my way to it. A mouse just seems easier to pin point exaclly where I want it, just as simple as moving the mouse over the submit button to submit this answer.

Edit - To add on what Rabbit said, games that require flying will be best suited for a controller, mouse and keyboard are hell for flying.

And @ what Tim had said about cramping, cheap equipment like standard $5 mouses and keyboards arn't made for comfort long term use. Invest in something that feels good for you. My preference is a Razer Naga, has a great design for comfort even at 30 hours in. Plus the 17 buttons further expands on the customization of skills and abilities, you can map each individual shout to a different key. All the power of the Dovahkiin at the tip of my right thumb.

Up until a year ago I would have lived and died by the controller. Reason: I've been using them pretty much exclusively my whole life. I've gotten very used to using just my thumbs to control my movement/aim.

However I've recently started playing Half-Life 2 and Halo: Custom Edition on my PC. After you get the hang of it, I would say the mouse gives you much more accuracy and smoother movement. My reasoning would be that you only have such a limited amount of space for the thumbstick on a controller to move. So you either have it set sensitive so you can turn/aim fast, but you have to be very precise. Or you have the sensitivity lowered and the aiming is easier but much slower.

With the mouse it seems easier for me personally to find a happy medium. You give it just a little and that's all you get. You slide it really fast and you can still spin and turn very quickly

I have no preferred method. I play on Xbox360 and PC, and both are good ways to play.

I personally feel more comfortable with controllers. BUT for certain shooters, Crysis 1 for example, you will need multiple keys binded for gameplay, so a keyboard will be more useful than the limited buttons on a controller.

EDIT: If you're a PC gamer, you should stick to M+K. The controller is only better if you're playing Driving games, Fighter games (e.g. Street Fighter), or FPS that require flying (Battlefield 3).

If you are asking because you want to get a better KDR, its all preference.

I'm personally better on the Mouse/Keyboard because I find it easier to aim with a mouse. Your mouse movement speed = your X-Hair movement speed, which can be critical in CQC maps/modes.

A controller on the other hand, is more compact. You can get all your action buttons in a smaller area and not press the wrong button (ie CTRL instead of Shift).

But like I stated at the beginning, it is all self preference.

It relies upon, once you've a gaming console and play that with FPS video games then flow ahead and purchase a on the spot logitech controller I did and it truly approves my ability, i visit react faster and the buttons are more advantageous promptly ahead to achieve. in case you dont have a console and in effortless words use your keyboard and mouse for months or years then save with the mouse/keyboard and evade dropping money and purchase a pastime.

i generally dont play fps games

    when i do ( very rarley ) i opt for a controller

not just because its easier ( because ti is ) but also because i am used to it i am console gamer first a pc gamer very much second

and unless i am interested in mods ( oblivion ) i will always opt for the console version of a game if i can help it

and some games just work better with a controller playing the new tomb raiders or any beat em up with a keyboard is just painfull
