My friend wants to make it in the music industrty what should I tell him?

I support he all the way but Im trying to tell him that the people who give him a contract are gonna want to put an image on him thats not like him, For example Jill Scott was very Afrocentric when she came out, but now she was at the B.E.T. awards with her hair slicked back with somebodies tights on. Way out of her persona. Im just telling him be mindful of that and alot of other things like too much fame, not being able to go to the store without someone in your face, rumors, personal life.
