This cheese give away was not just for seniors, it was to anyone on food stamps, welfare, unemployed, and this took place in the 1980's.
This was American 5# boxes of reprocessed cheese, and was almost like a very good cheddar.

When I was a youngster, about 60 years ago, my family was dirt poor. We used to get free blocks of cheese. We also got corned beef hash in cans. I thought the government hated me.
