What is the earliest you can find out the sex?
I'm due in mid August (19.5 weeks along) and just found out the sex. I know that this is the usual time that you find out the sex. My friend who lives in South Africa just found out the sex of her baby and she's not due until the end of September. That must make her 14 weeks along at the most. Is that even possible? I thought the earliest you could find out was 16 weeks, but that is not super reliable.

I have known a couple of women who found out that early. It is NOT as accurate though - not at all. early on the genitalia is not well defined, so the margin for mistake is wider. I wouldn't even want to be told so that I didn't get it set in my mind & find out later they were wrong. They say it is 92% accurate at 14 weeks - but I am not sure I believe that. even so - that would make them wrong a little less than 1 in 10 times....so that is still a pretty high rate of inaccuracy to me. At 12 weeks it is still 1 in 5 are wrong. :/

It all depends on the size and position of your baby. According to the article linked below, it is usually 18-20 weeks.

From the 12week point if she was to have a 4d scan then they cud tell her but the further along the clearer it is cus they can get it wrong if done too early!!
