Are all people in the south stupid?

Not ALL obviously... but they sure do value and promote utter freaking ignorance like it's gold.

No, not all. I think the problem is a shortage of good schools down there (considered moving to the south, decided after researching the school systems to stay up here). Without a decent education, even a naturally smart person can come out sounding ignorant. That said, I have met some very bright, progressive southerners, and some of the nicest people I've met we're from the South. You just had the misfortune of encountering some seriously dumb people.

I think anyone who lumps everyone into a stereotypical character be it in the South or ANYWHERE in the WORLD IS "stupid". The very folks you belittled in the South would probably get a laugh out of your "ignorance" when it came down to fending off an alligator attack on their "turf" !

I think "intelligence" is relative, and the smarter ones apply it to things that are more relevant to THEIR "World".

I suspect for the guys to which you refer, the eating habits of an alligator and knowing the location of a potential attack was more important than the specifics of World Geographyand politics.
