fair price for installing brake pads?

my neighbor said he would do it for a few bucks. he knows I'm not rolling in the money and he isn't either. Is $40 a fair price to offer? Just replacing the pads on the back, don't need anything else

Would be about 20 to 30 minutes undo the tires undo caliper bolts put pads into caliper bracket grease caliper slides push in caliper piston bolt it up and put tires on. I'd say $40 to $50 bucks

$40 is really good, to be honest, I would give him more, because hes giving you a deep discount for a laborious job.
