Booking a hotel online- third party or directly?

Question

Hello Everyone, 

I am planning a trip to Sea World -San Diego and I am getting mixed answers from friends and family on whether I should book through a third party or the hotels website.

^ this is the hotel that I am considering due to being close to Sea World. 

Both the third party and the hotel have the same similar pricing just a few cents difference. The hotel has online reservation but how do I know if its safe to give out my information  or a third party like orbit, price line, hot wire etc. ( I know, I sound a bit paranoid? but I rather be safe than sorry).

If you're not getting a really hot deal from a third party site, you're better off dealing directly with the hotel.  That way if anything goes wrong you can take the matter up with the hotel staff instead of trying to get someone else to be the intermediary in a dispute.

I like to book hotels online and use this site - http://www.hotelscombined.com/?a_aid=45702. It allows me to compare prices and reviews from most of the major booking sites.

Always book directly! I find it's always cheaper and you get better rates and more of an intimate service as you're dealing with them with no middle man.
