Clogged fans and poor air flow can contribute to a slow computer and I see this often especially if the fan cooling the CPU and the heat-sink is clogged. That means the processor is likely getting hotter than it wants to

If you are comfortable taking your PC apart remove the heat-sink and fan give them a good clean and replace the thermal paste.

If you don't want to take it apart then give the inside a good clean with the hover and then use a can of compressed air to clean the fan and heat-sink the best you can.

If it is a laptop blast every area you can get to with compressed air to clean it out

Blocked fans can cause ioverheating (so vacuum gently and regularly). Dirt and dust (and cigarette smoke) can all cause problems ranging up to disk crashes.

Check for viruses, check what' running and taking up resources.

  • It doesn't. But if there's dust blocking the air vents, it definitely can lead to poor performance.
