Sad blues artists/songs?
I LOVE sad blues songs about anything! Loss, death, love, or anything related to that. I've looked into some BB King, but I love blues with lots of strong blues guitar, and soul-filled lyrics. Any Artists or particular songs are welcome and appreciated! Thanks!

This has been asked so many times before but I realize old questions fall off the radar. Blues doesn't need words to express what the feeling is. You know it when you hear them not with your ears but your heart.
Ry Cooder - Feelin' Bad Blues

B.B. King - Big Boys Blues ( video title is wrong )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q85FSZXe_KE at the 2:45 mark he'll make that guitar bleed and express what his soul feels.
SRV - Tin Pan Alley/Dirty Pool ( best version ever performed, only my opinion )

Ry Cooder - How Can A Poor Man Stand Such Times And Live

This next song by Janis was her saddest song, in fact it was like almost singing her own anthem.
Little Girl Blue

Work Me Lord

And if you want one about death. This was one of the most prolific songs ever done. It was reality from what the eyes had seen and the soul experienced. If you need lyrics explained then you didn't get the song.
Billie Holiday - Strange Fruit

Skip James was an especially sad Blues artist. He had a lot of loss and regret in his life. Note his song 'Hard Time Killin' Floor'. Blueswoman Rory Block was at his death-bed; and was quoted that he always seemed to be the 'saddest' of the old Blues-guys. For a more modern artist, several of the more recent Eric Clapton albums/songs are very melancholy and heart-felt.

Well if your willing to venture out into the alternative world, Jessey Lacey of Brand New has been depressed for about a decade, so I suggest listening to The Devil and God is Raging Inside Me by Brand New, or just Brand New in general.
