For running slow there are many causes:

Microsoft Registry Problems

RAM

De-Fragmenting

3. scan and clean the registry errors.

I believe it may be the CPU reaching it's limits and the RAM. Do you have a lot of applications open when gaming? If so then you must close them down. At the bottom should be your start menu etc. Right clock then task manager, right click a program you don't want open and click end tree process this should free up memory and CPU.

whoah dude! it happened to me exactly the same. and i had to format it again. the tech told me that there are lot of causes: 1. virus, you need to scan and update your anti virus software just to be safe, he said 2. so many opened programs or software that weren't actually close, actually, there is a shortcut button to see those program and turn it off but i kinda forgot it somehow, and lastly, crowded or overpopulated programs you installed or somehow incomplete.
