Libs don't trust the FDA because, like you said, they have been corrupted. But look who's corrupting them. Which brings the question, why do conservatives trust the industries who are corrupting our government?
Sure you can chose not to buy something, but how does that hurt a multinational corporation with billions to sell somewhere else? Or, if everything is of poor quality? Million's of people don't shop at Wal-mart because much of what they sell is of poor quality, yet they still make billions.
Liberals want to get rid of the money, not the entire administration because you can't expect a business to police themselves.

Most people understand that the FDA is a very important part of keeping our foods and drugs safe.
Yes, they make mistakes.
And, your suggestion that only Liberals are smart enough to see that the FDA is not perfect flatters Liberals, but I would bet that there are dozens of Republicans in the US who also see the FDA as not totally good or totally bad.

To make the meat supply safer a genius named Eldon Roth came up with a way to treat lean finely textured beef (a beef product used in hamburger and processed meat products) with ammonium hydroxide which then dissipated completely. This process kills the pathogens in the meat, making it safer. A celebrity chef decided he didn't like the perfectly safe process and in kneejerk reaction McD's and some other burger places stopped using the Lean finely textured beef, making food more expensive, and less safe. About half of the price rise in hamburger this summer will be due to the removal of LFTB from the food supply.

The Cochineal insect is pretty safe to consume. It's been used as a food dye for quite some time now.

The good thing is that YOU don't have to be constrained by the FDA, YOU can buy snake oil anytime you want.
YOU complain about what the FDA permitted companies to sell, but YOU expect the FDA to protect you. So which one is it? lol

Who would you trust more for food safety?
A government agency with no financial stake in the product,
OR
A self governing corporate safety council whose bottom line is still profit driven, not safety driven?

Why do you think liberals trust them any more that conservatives do? That is just untrue.

Typical lib thought process, or as close as a lib can get to actual thought:
If it's from the federal government, it must be good for us - unless we actually have to do something to earn or deserve it.
