How to get 6 month puppy to stop biting?

My 6 month puppy bites! He doesn't bite a lot, but when outsie if my kids are running around and he is playing with them he will bit them to get catch up to them when they are running. We have tried the exasperated yelp, but he just seems to think we are playing. He's starting to get older and his bites are getting stronger. how to stop my puppy from biting! Thanks

first things first what breed is it not that it matters just to get an idea. ex. if it is a herding dog or has roots in herding, it could just be its instincts kicking in because it might see your children as sheep, cattle etc. some breeds like this are australian cattle/sheperard , rotti, collies and manny more.

some things you could do to stop it is grabbing its mouth and holding it shut flowed by staying no biting

also if you catch the dog at the right time ( just before it starts to chase them) quickly touch not hard but not to gental right in the neck mussel or right in the hind quarters (on the side by the back legs)

and say no but stay calm and assertive when doing it .

you could also teach it the leave it command

ps this might also be a case of bordum which and dog of the working class can get board easily which is an easy fix just by taking it for structured walks.

good luck i hope this helped, if you have any more questions or need more details just ask

My dog is 11 months old and she is a Shepherd Timberwolf. She's so hyper all the time and likes to play bite a lot. But we pat her on the nose or pat her on the butt. It works. She just stops or walks away. Also when I'm really frustrated I just start yelling really loud "Stop" then she stops.

When he bites, (mine bites like crazy,) walk away from him and/or tie him to a leash and walk away. Put him on there for 2-5 minutes, then take him off of it. He will get the point that every time he bites, he doesn't get a reward, instead he gets punishment.

flick him in the nose, or bite him back. sounds weird but dogs respond to dominance, if you show him whos boss he'll act around your rules instead of his
