how do I adjust idle on Yamaha Vstar 650?

I've determined there is a knob on left side under gas tank (correct me if wrong) I don't want to force it and screw up. Do all I have to do is turn this counter clockwise to lower idle?

Yes the knurled little knob turned ccwise will decrease the rpms of the motor while idling.

On my bike (1983 GS1100e) there is a knob in roughly the same place which adjusts idle speed. I've adjusted it to give me the lowest speed in the rpm range given in the factoy service manual.

Source(s): I have a factory service manual for every bike I've owned. When I sell the bike, I include a copy and keep the original. Get one for yourself (probably $60 or more) you'll be glad you did. BTW, never force anything.
