Yeah I'm just a junior and I've only taken 1... granted, I have 4 this year, and I could only take 1 last year, and none my freshman year. 8 AP tests is an awful lot, and could actually be a huge pain in the *** because:
a. Scheduling would be a nightmare, because some of the tests run at the same time.
b. Do you honestly want to study for 8 AP tests sophomore year? I have 4 and that's a lot on my plate.
Just space them out... there are 31 tests in total, 8 of which are languages, 4 that simply vary in difficulty (Calc AB vs. BC, Physics B vs. C), and some that are just plain useless, aka Art History, Studio Art (unless, of course, you're an excellent artist). You don't need to take that many!

Why the hurry? You have four years to reach your goal, so there's no need to cram all of those AP tests in a couple of years. Besides, AP is supposed to be intensive, so you need to make sure you can handle them all first (and take out the ones you don't really need).

I'm a senior and I will have taken 8 by the time I graduate, don't rush yourself as you will only be sacrificing your patience, sanity, health, and sleep.
