Is everyone happy to see Obama is finally addressing the high gas prices?

Update:

"Sorry, but the President really can't do much about gas."

True enough, except when they increase the cost of doing business for the oil companies, which has a direct and linear effect on the price of ALL petroleum products.

Yep, gas prices are high, so I'm going to eliminate the gas companies tax breaks so they will raise prices even higher. .

Is this what it is going to take, gas prices in the US like that $8.80 in the UK, for liberals to finally see this idiot for what he is and that he cares not one iota for the American public.

Sorry, but the President really can't do much about gas. Believe it or not Americans still pay a pretty low amount at the pump compared to other nations, so complaining isn't really warranted. The fact is easy oil is gone and countries like China and India are souring industrially and demanding ever increasing supplies of oil.

Simply put, supply is falling while demand is drastically rising. Prices are going to go up regardless of who is in office, it's basic economics. If you want prices to go down look to the world's engineers and not politicians to come up with solutions.

Edit: To the person stating that taking away tax breaks would make prices go higher and hurt even more... Well, you seem to be forgetting that that would save tax money. You're paying that difference either way through taxes or price at the pump. The difference is that oil companies are unequivocally benefiting by having little to no taxes to pay. Having whole industries favored by the government is not economically sound.

  • Obama can't do a thing about high gas prices. In fact, he will make them higher by refusing to allow offshore drilling and by killing oil pipelines. Obama does everything he can to increase the price of oil.

Obama is a stupid street thug. He rails against oil company profits yet fails to see how incredibly expensive it is to drill for oil and to open up new sources of supply. The oil companies need the money to be able to do that.

In the UK we pay $10 a gallon.

£1.40 per litre is the average. It is an international problem. It is set to continue.
