If your moonfruit account allows you to point an external domain - make the changes on moonfruit so that they can add the domain to their nanmeservers, then forward the GoDaddy domain (via DNS settings) to the moonfruit server.

If you use IP address, you will just get the website traffic, if you change the nameserver, you will get the email too...

  • Lauren C,

You can either use the hosting that may have come with your Moonfruit account when you created the site or you can use our hosting. You can view the hosting packages we offer at this URL: http://x.co/ikNr

If you opt to use hosting from another provider, the following URL will help you point the domain to the other provider's hosting settings: http://x.co/ikNn

I hope this has been helpful. If not, you can reach our Support Team any time, 24x7 via the following URL: http://x.co/support

    Sincerely,

    Jeremi

A domain is nothing but a name. If you want your website to actually be visible on the Internet it has to be hosted on a server.

There are many companies that will rent server space to you - most are very user friendly are happy to help with getting your website uploaded to the server and associating your domain name to it. GoDaddy themselves offer hosting services, but you aren't forced to host with them just because you bought the domain from them. Another good host is hostgator.com.

You also have the option of converting one of your own computers into a server and hosting your website from your house, but that's very technical and a lot of hassle for someone who isn't experienced with server administration and networking.

I recently did the same thing. I went to godaddy and purchased the domain name and went with a free host but the only down fall to a free host is they require you to post their ads such as a pop up or banner. The difficult part is using macromedia dreamweaver or whatever program you use to upload your material to your host server and the html/css coding as well.
