Dog and human sick at the same time?

My miniature dachshund threw up in the middle of the night, and I got sick the following morning. Can dogs and humans get sick from the same virus?

    Yup.

    I don't care what anyone says, I was always cleaning up after my children and my dogs with in 24 hours of each other.

    My dogs were protected from Giadia but the kids were not.

    Sorry , I just don't know why, but I would be scrubbing for 3 days strait, first one then the other would get sick!
