what is the approximate date of planet phaetons destruction?
we all heard about the asteroid belt between mars and Jupiter and no doubt it was a planet once.
the destruction is told in Greek mythology when Zeus destroyed phaeton because it was about to crash to earth.
are there any theories when this astronomical event occurred ???
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pha%C3%ABton
"Perhaps the most famous version of the myth is given us through Ovid in his Metamorphoses (Book II). Phaeton seeks assurance that his mother, Clymenē, is telling the truth that his father is the sun god Helios (as her husband is Merops, a mortal king). When Phaeton obtains his father's promise to drive the sun chariot as proof, he fails to control it and the Earth is in danger of burning up when Phaeton is killed by a thunderbolt from Zeus to prevent further disaster. "
the question is that planet's orbit distances is growing on geometrical progress from the sun (sorry for my English)
and calculating this points from the sun, there is one point where the planet is missing, current place, where is asteroid belt now.
I just need to know the approximate date of that event, if your opinion is that there never was a planet I understand. but if someone agrees please tell me your opinion

that's why Zeus killed it, it's gravity braked apart. and these parts not still floating on same orbit, not crashing on Jupiter.
weird

I don't think that all the planet would keep it's remnants on single orbit.

perhaps you are right but how come modern day science can tell me that monkey is my uncle? also based on thousand years research?
thume516
OMG and after all this I am the one who believes the magic and tales?
you know and believe what you have been told while Im asking my own questions
thume516
forget the religion please, I'm not religious.
but I'm sure you can't show me the electron, neither atom. microscope won't help you
you can't even prove that electron is a particle or a wave and nobody saw it, but you know that it exists right? so don't tell me what you can show me or can not. and when you speak in the name of thousand year old researching science, you show that you can't tell anything in the name of yourself. besides it is always easy to walk on the road which was build by someone

If you add up all the mass in the asteroid belt, you get enough to make about 4% that of our Moon. It never was a single body, let alone a planet. We often get claims here based on Youtube, but I think this is the first time we have had someone try to connect a non-existent astronomical event with ancient Greek mythology!

"no doubt it was a planet once"
Um, actually there is entirely zero reason to believe it was ever a planet. Planets don't just break apart and spread out as much as an asteroid field. Once a planet forms it is going to stay together, the gravity holding it together is so immense that you could slam it with another planet and it won't become an asteroid field. At worst you'll see moons made, but you're never going to see something as spread out as much an asteroid field.
Edit: Perhaps you would be better served listening to modern day scientists who stand on a foundation of thousands of years of scientific discovery and innovation as opposed to believing bronze age myths that were written by people who thought lighting was magic.
Modern day science does not assert you came from a monkey. Modern day science asserts humans and the great apes share an ancestor millions of years ago that was a species neither ape nor man. This ancestor lived in African jungles. At one point in history a group of this ancient species was forced out of the jungle onto the African plains, likely because of predators. This group, without an environment of trees to climb evolved over millions of years to become upright and rely heavily on their intelligence to survive the harsh African deserts, it was them that would become Homo Sapiens(Human). Those of that ancient species that were not driven from the jungles stayed climbing oriented and evolved into modern day apes.
Evolution is as scientifically proven as the Theory of Gravity. Do you second guess gravity ever and jump off buildings? If you doubt the veracity of evolution then go ahead and discard every medicine you ever use. Antibacterial and antiviral medicines are developed with evolutionary theory and without it they would not work.
I wasn't "told." Most of the 2 million peer reviewed scientific studies that provide direct evidence for evolution are in the public domain and are free. Feel free to review them, see the evidence, and redo the experiments yourself if you are so inclined. There's a reason even the Catholic Church affirms evolution, because the evidence is astronomically staggering. The thing that sets apart magic and fairy tales from science is science has evidence. You can never show me Zeus. I can give you a microscope and allow you to see bacteria evolve in real time(yes, scientists have done this.) You can't show me a talking snake like in the bible. I can give you a shovel, you can dig and you'll dig up a massive fossil record that shows gradual changes over time.

There never was a planet between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. There simply is not enough material in all the asteroids lumped together to form one decent-sized planet. Jupiter's gravity has always made it impossible for a planet to form in this region.
