Trying to remember two childhood Books?

Im 39 , was born in 1972. I barely remember 2 books I read as a young child. I could been around 7 ish in age im not sure. Ok remember I was really young and this may not be enough information to go on but I hope someone knows them.

First Book was about science things i think. In this book the only thing i can remember was a character drawing of something that may have resembled the coyote from road runner ( i think not sure ) I remember him looking at the moon, and the book was explaining how things appeared to look small, but in reality was much bigger. I think he had a pair of binoculars looking at the moon too. Also maybe compared a coin laying in the ground and how it looked small in comparison the moon and its distance.. I dunno something like that.

Ok second Book. It was a book about strange noises you hear in the night. I think I remember pictures of a kid who was in bed and kept hearing noises all around, and was trying to figure them out, like an air plane going over head, a pair of pants on the clothes line outside whipping in the wind.. Thats about all I can remember of that book.

Can anyone think of what these books could had been named ? or anything ? Thanks :D
