Why are food banks so low on food?

Food stamps and school lunches should keep people well fed. Some with 5 dependents get up to $900. month

You could feed six people on $900 a month? I spend about $700 a month for my family of four.

In any case, Obama has destroyed our economy and more people are taking food from the food banks than are depositing.

Well, um, look dude-I don't think you thought the math through there...

$900 a month breaks down to about $10 a meal - a meal for five people. That's assuming they eat three times a day. Now, I don't know any mother who could possibly plan out a balanced diet for children that only costs $10 per meal for 5 people and includes no allowance for snacks...

But, why don't you prove me wrong? Get five people together-mix of kids and adults- and feed them for 1 month on that budget. Show us how it's done :)

Some people get that much money, but most of them don't.

It's very easy to make just barely enough money on unemployment to pay your mortgage or your rent, and maybe have enough left over to pay for electricity and heat, but still not have enough to provide food for your family.

Nobody goes to a food bank because they want to. Volunteer at one some time, and talk to some of the recipients. Listen to their stories. Hopefully you'll develop a better attitude.
