Can my wife travel abroad using her maiden name if the passport and flight details match?
We got married just under a year ago and my wife has an existing passport which has her maiden name on it . The passport still has 5 years on it and the boarding pass for the flight is booked under her maiden name. We are traveling to Spain from the UK will there be a problem boarding the plane ?

Changing maiden names after marrying is not required by law whatsoever, it's only a trend and custom, many women keep their name their entire lives. The bottom line is the name on the air ticket must match that as shown on the passport which is the ultimate government issued photo id and is acceptable for every type of identification. Your wife can certainly travel with her valid passport without problems at all.

no. Marriage does not change her surname, she only does that if she wants to. So her passport is still valid and you've got the right name on the tickets.
If she can be bothered to change her name in five years, fine, but now it is just a waste of money for the passport.

We did the same to save some money. Its not a problem as long as the tickets and passport match her name.
Just a bit a side issue, but if your ever lucky enough to go to the Maldives take a copy of your marriage certificate as I understand the resort now need proof of marriage to put you in the same room, if you have different passport names. I'm saying nothing!

Yes. Women are not required to take their husband's last name so as long as the name on her passport and plane reservation match she won't have a problem.

Hi there, that will be a big problem if you didn't renew the passport of your mom. Anyone should renew passports whenever they are married. This is a strict policy from the immigration. Then you should take on it.

Should have no problem - just don't have her use her drivers license as I guess it will have her new name on it.

No.. sorry! You'll have to get it renewed i am almost 100% sure but I would phone the airline you are flying with to check with them first!
