Need info on how to check 02 sensors on 1998 chevrolet C1500 w/ 4.6?
I can't find voltage or any info on how to check which, if either sensor is bad.
Sorry, my finger must have slipped. It's a 4.3. I don't have a scan tool but years ago when I knew what I was doing, you could use a volt meter to check miilivolts or ohms to check sensors. I don't know if this is still possible, but if iy is I don't have the specs to perform these tests.

The 4.6 is a Ford V8 engine. So what engine do you really have?
Hint, if the sensor is bad, the check engine light will be illuminated...

Your not going to have a very high voltage. PCM will send a .450 V I believe to the sensors & how much air or fuel is in the exhaust will dictate whether or not the sensor voltage will go higher or lower than .450v. You need a tech 2 to monitor this more than a voltage meter. Only thing you can check is make sure connector isnt corroded & check the ground & make sure you have no resistance to the ground. Thats all you can check. If you have a tech 2 or scan tool, it would be a lot easier to monitor the voltage while doing a few test. What is your DTC your getting???

If your car has done over 60,000 miles. both sensors need replaced as they are technically "service items"
