I get angry when people comment on how I am beautiful and so on..?

This was like one of those things for me that you don't like but you don't know why. For along time when my bf, friends and family members complemented me on my looks and I got kind of angry inside of me instead of appreciating. I know/knew it is wierd but my sister told me it is because I have low self-esteem. But now that I think abt it, I think I get angry because it makes me feel like if I am being liked or my looks tomorow I can be hated for not looking so beautiful either so I rather give looks no importance in my life at all. Does anybody else feel the same way. Do u think that is because of low self-esteem or it is normal?

I can totally see being frustrated, if you wish to be recognized and appreciated for what you do rather than what you look like today. Looks will eventually fade; they don't really benefit the world in a deep way, and they are often a matter of fashion/ opinions. If you are trying to accomplish meaningful things, and those are overlooked or brushed aside, yes, it would make a person quite angry.

On the positive side, beauty, together with good manners and a positive outlook, can open doors for you. People do tend to react positively to a beautiful person, provided that that person is reasonably outgoing and polite. It can give you an edge when it comes to forging relationships/gathering information/discovering resources that will help you with those achievements you trying to accomplish.

I think one thing you can do is to make sure your conversation is intelligent (not pushy or showing off,) so that people don't see you as just a pretty face.

Me, personally, I don't like being complimented on anything simply because I think gratification for being who you are, inside or out, is stupid. This is me, if you don't like it, I don't care, if you do like it, I don't care. LOL
