Questions about going from the centre of new york city to east rutherford NJ?
I am planning a huge trip to wrestlemania 29 next year. Basically im from england and it will be the first time im coming to the states. My first question is what are the chances of me getting in a no go area if im flying into new york city and then going to east rutherford new jersey?
Im travelling to the met life stadium in new jersey. How long does it take to get to NJ from new york? Also how do i get there? Is it safe for me to do this trip on my own or not?
Would it be better for me to stay in a hotel in east rutherford rather than go back NYC in a hotel? The event will finish at 11PM and i wont get out until nearer midnight.
What good and cheap hotels are there available? Is NJ a dangerous area?

My friend, the trip to the MetLife Stadium from the JFK Airport take about an hour by commuter train, with a change of train at Penn Station in Midtown, Manhattan.
If you're looking for something closer, I would recommend landing at Newark-Liberty Airport and take the NJ Transit from there to stadium via Secaucus Junction. The trip take from Newark-Liberty Airport to the stadium takes around 30 minutes and will cost you around $15.
In regards to safety, taking the commuter train in the New York City Metro Area is very safe. Every commuter railroad has a conductor and several ticket takers walking about the train. Therefore, you will be fine when take a commuter train.
If you're staying in a hotel in New Jersey, I would recommend staying in one that is with in walking distance to a train station. There is a Sheraton Hotel in Downtown Newark, right across the street from Newark-Penn Station.
If you're staying near the airport many hotels near Newark Airport, have free shuttle service from the Airport's monorail station. Therefore you can take the Monorail from the airport train station and then bus to your hotel.
I hope this information is very helpful.
Good luck and enjoy the show.

Actually your in good shape. The lincoln tunnle links NJ to Manhattan. You would simply take the Lincoln Tunnel to Route 3 in Jersey and its 2 exits down. There are many hotels there. The Sharraton being the nicest. I stayed there twice and they are fairly priced. The area is not bad at all either as many people who choose not to live in the city live that way. You may also want to check out MediEval Times.while your there as thats only 2 exits from the Stadium. I assume your Flying into JFK airport. You can take a cab from there but they are really pricey. You can take the metro to 9th and 32nd which will bring you right by the tunnle its 2.50 for the train one way and then get a cab to go through the tunnel to the arena. Best of luck. I was born in Brooklyn, NY love it. Guess il see.u at wrestlemania cuz my husband and i will be there

I wouldn't fly into New York City. I would fly into Newark airport. It will make things much easier. Newark airport is in New Jersey and is only 20 minutes away from Rutherford. They also have shuttle buses. See if you can change your flight.
Yes, there are many cheap hotels in East Rutherford.

Sorry for the long link.
Since you have never been to America before, don't go alone.

Take the #161 bus from the Port Authority Bus Terminal to Wrestlemania. The one-way fare is $3.20. It runs 24/7.
I hope this information was very helpful.
