Can I be fit enough to hike 10km in 2 months?

Today is April 4th. My friends and I are taking a trip on May 26th. On this trip they will hike a mountain. I read the trail is 10km. It also says its a relatively easy hike. The hike takes up a full day (9hours) and I don't want to do something alone for the day.

Right now my fitness level is Zero and I'm overweight. But if I start walking tomorrow and walk up stairs everyday a few times a day (my work is on the 7th floor and I live on the 20th floor) Can I build up enough fitness to do it?

I know it won't be easy and I'll be in a lot of pain I just don't want to quit at 2km! Be honest and give any advice you want.

Update:

The trail is only 10km but it is up a mountain the Peak is 1950 meters. This is why I'm concerned.

Going from zero fitness to walking 10km shouldn't be TOO hard. You'll struggle, that's a given, but I suggest you walk as much as you can for the next 2 months, specifically uphill.

It may help if you told us the trail, because I have the funniest feeling this is the Brown Clee Hill trail.
