Legal residence for taxes.?

I'm a sound engineer and about to go on tour for at least the next 10 months & possibly longer. I don't own a residence and do not have a lease. Is there any reason why I could not simply choose a state with no personal income taxes, get a driver's license there and claim it as my state of residence?

BUT...most states will require proof of residence (purchase of home/lease, utility bills, car registration, etc.) before they will issue a driver's license to you.
