Full, longer name or short name?

We love the name Ray but not sure whether it would be okay to use just Ray or use a full name like Raymond.

What do you think, Ray or Raymond?

Thanks for your help

Ray to me sounds like a nickname in all honesty, but sometimes changing a name you love is just too hard. If you love Ray just as simple, short name, then I would leave it. The only problem I have with it is that the name seems to be incomplete and you almost want to add something to it for it to become complete. Another troubling issue is usage of a middle name. You have more options with a full name such as Raymond compared to Ray.

If you're not such a big fan of Raymond, but love Ray and wish to use a longer name, you can use:

Brayden (Ray is in the name)

    Murray

Raphael (a little bit of a stretch, but could work)

If you like the name Ray, then definitely go with that. Personally, I don't like the name Raymond, it just doesn't sound cute or appealing. Another cute option is Raylan. I think that name is adorable. Just don't let anybody else decide for you. Go with what feels comfortable. If you're having reservations about Raymond, you probably won't be happy with it in the long term.

Best wishes for a happy healthy baby!

Source(s): I first heard the name Raylan on FX show Justified. The main character is Deputy US Marshal Raylan Givens, played by Timothy Olyphant. Also, got saddled with a terrible name, did lots of research before changing it when I was 16. My mother never liked my name either, we changed it to the name she always wanted to give me.

I would do Raymond, gives you the option to have both cause you can always just call the baby ray if it fits

Definitely Raymond or something similar with Ray as a nickname.

Raymond is not my favorite, though there are others such as Rayan/Rayhan, Rayford, etc.

Most of the time, I prefer using a longer name and using a nickname<3

Source(s): For me, I like it all the time except Lucy. I prefer Lucy to Lucille.

I would go with Raymond people are bound to shorten it anyhow.
