is there a metal detector that will pick up gold nuggets,flakes,ore for under 300 dollars.?

    Metal detectors optimized for gold start around $500, and a Minelab GPX-5000 will run over $5500.

    $300 isn't a bad budget for coin and relic hunting, and that kind of machine would find a larger nugget, but gold flakes are tiny, so you'd need a pretty sophisticated machine.
