What Should Be Going Through My Mind?!?

When I play tennis I feel as if I'm just hitting the ball to get it back over the net but I don't want that. I'm always so confused what shot to make next or were to focus or how fast to do something that I'm slow to the ball and hit out! What should I be focusing on?!? Please help! Thanks ! :)

What you don't want is what you should be doing with adding just strategy and observation of your opponent(what he does not do that well) and then exploit it to the limit. Beyond that is good to have resolve to Not give him too many unforced errors so he can not relax too much and occasionally go for winner so he is forced to play better shots risking an unforced error himself....

I used to be exactly the same! U need to find that zone of concentration when playing the game. I used to never be able to do that but if u keep playing u ll find it!!!! Try being a bit more behind the baseline so u wont get too late to the ball... dont worry if u keep trying u ll do it, tennis just needs practice... All u should b thinking is hitting the ball away from ur opponent right now k??? Then after aim for strategy... If u practice u ll get much better dont worry. Enjoy!!!! :)

If you're backswing is late on a ball, just get it in. Maybe get it in deep at a higher level. If this happens often, Make your backswing shorter. When you have time to hit the ball well, if you are at the baseline, hit the ball cross court, about as hard as you can while still making at least 4/5 of the shots. When you get an easier ball, hit the ball lower and a little harder down the line. When you're at the net, if you don't think you're going to hit a winner, volley down the line. If you're closing, volley cross court. If you don't think they're going to lob and you're at the net, get as close to the net as possible without touching it. When returning, return cross court. (not cross body, so basically you want to return to the side they served from) when serving, serve 75 percent-ish to the side they don't want you to serve to (forehand or backhand) and 25 to the other. At first, just try to think about this formula. Then, when it's second nature, try mixing it up from time to time. Watch to see if they're figuring out the pattern, and if so, change it. Watch to see what shots they miss on the most and make them hit that shot. Try to remain calm when you're playing, and if you start getting angry or frustrated, just focus on moving your feet quickly and well. Hopefully this helps, sorry for the long answer.
