Would you consider these dated/old names for a child born in the 21st century?

I like all of these names, but I don't think I'd ever use them just because they are considered for the most part, old lady names. But I am curious what others think and if you'd consider using them nowadays

Gretchen Eve *Grey/Ren/Gretta*

Bernadette Rose *Addie/Adette*

Irene Melody *Ren/Ree*

Dorothea Belle *Dora/Ro/Thea*

Willa Haley *Will*

Florence Isla *Flora/Ren/Lo*

Lucinda Faith *Loo/Lucy/Luce*

Thank you.

Lucinda is my 9 year old daughters name and has never had an issue with it. 99.9% of people always compliment her on her name telling her it's beautiful and very respectable, she's actually had people tell her it's fresh and edgy and a really nice change to all the Ava's and Kinley's that are in her age group. It makes me so happy to see how proud my daughter is of her name.

As for the rest, if I am ever to be blessed with another daughter, I actually have Irene,Dorothea,Willa,Florence and Bernadette on MY favorites list. So yes I would definitely use/consider all of them. I like Gretchen but it's only at slot #15 on my faves list lol.

They are all definitely usable nowadays, and far more appropriate than crap like Mckinley and Paisley which are ridiculously popular for no substantial reasoning.

Beautiful names, beautiful combos. Far from being "old lady" they are fresh, edgy, spunky and gorgeous.

    Good luck.

Gretchen Eve-no I think Gretchen is a harsh trashy name. Eve is gorgeous.

    Bernadette Rose-No. I don't like it.

Irene Melody-better than the other ones, but still no. Just not in love with it. And hate the nicknames.

Dorothea Belle-I'd use Thea. Dorothea is just weird.

Willa Haley-not feminine enough. I love uber feminine names

    Florence Isla-no.

    Lucinda Faith-no.

    Dated names I would used.

Vivian Sophia-I actually am using this one.

    Adelaide

    Ava

    Annette

    Beatrice

    Carlotta

    Celia

    Clara

    Cora

    Edith

    Eloise

    Etta

    Hazel

    Ivy

    Jane

    Meredith

    Vera

All of these names are gorgeous.

Definately none of the first names, esspecially not Dorothea or Bernadette!!!

I suppose Lucinda would be the best of the worst on this list but some of the middle names are very nice or at least ok. Isla is very pretty in particular.

Sorry but I have to disagree with most of those answers, I hate using old fashioned names on kids today. I get that they are classics and all but in my opinion they only suit adults and the elderly, not little kids. I know I would hate having one of these names. My name is Peyton, normal, even sort of what you people like to call 'trendy' and I get picked on for my name just because it starts with a P! I get called Pee Pee and stupid names like that. Kids are really cruel, imagine the torment a 'Gretchen' would get. The only Gretchen I know is 50 years old. These are nice classics, but they are so under used these days that I think it's a sign that nobody wants to use them anymore. These are actually names that wouldn't age well if you think about it. I could never picture a little girl named Florence or Bernadette. I totally agree with you, it's best to keep them on your favorites list but not to name a child nowadays an old fashioned name.

I really REALLY like Irene Melody and Lucinda Faith is good too. Maybe change it to Lucy though. The others though I really just don't like. Maybe if you played around with them, and changed a few things you'd find a name you really like.

I know 6 year olds called Horatio and Maximus, so I don't really think it matters how old a name is.

Also most of your names have so many nicknames that can be used they can change to ones more suited to the age they are at.

Lucinda Faith (Lucy) is the only one that I think I could use these days.

They are lovely names imo save for 'Faith', 'Haley', and 'Willa'. I don't personally believe in attaching expiration dates to names.
