It won't work.

It sounds good to me, but it won't work. Both sides must agree on it but it won't happen since both sides don't really give a **** about each other.

As someone said, ordinary people of these sides probably want this solution and are tired of fighting for half a century. That is very true.

I agree. I'm actually muslim. I agree that muslims and jews should make an agreement and share Jerusalem instead of acting like little kids over it. But again, that's not mine and your fault. That's the israeli government's, hamas', and the palestinian government's (or whatever) fault.

Hamas says in it's charter that it won't & that it requires violence to take Israel.

Abbas & Arafat also never recognized Israel as a Jewish state.

Palestinian Authority has said it will not allow Jews as citizens (by law.)

Israeli Jewish West Bank residents own the land they are on, and have said they would be citizens of a PA state is that was the only option. Security risk is that they'd be dead in no time.

Question is -- if the Palestinian people had more free government, would they be willing to go for this or not? Their government doesn't think so. But it also doesn't promote it (to the contrary.) Settlements aren't the issue. They are less than 2% of the land in question. Most are merely suburbs of Jerusalem. Every time Abbas wants to stall, this is where he goes. Israelis are willing to give up settlements... when they left Gaza they tore them up. It's when they left Lebanon & Gaza and got missiles in return, that they stopped believing leaving West Bank would go better. And WB is much closer range to Jerusalem & Tel Aviv putting their population at big risk.

The solution that you propose is the region's "wet dream". The people of both sides (excluding extremists of course) wish for this kind a solution. However, Hamas, that governs the Palestinian territory, is a recognized terror organization that does not want Israel around and has publicly stated this on stages throughout the Arab world.

Of course, Hamas isn't standing alone, it is enforced by Iranian money as well as some Syrian and Hizballah funding. The above are taking every measure to destabilize the Middle East as they thrive from instability, that leads to chaos and depression, that leads to non-democracy, which is exactly what they need in order to maintain sovereignty.

It's a noble idea, one that I myself once shared but have since realized it will never be possible when a terrorist organization like Hamas is the ruling authority in Gaza. Zahar stated that Hamas will never recognize Israel as a state. They just executed three people, one of whom was convicted of collaborating with Israel.

Every time they've been offered their own state, they have refused to compromise. It's all or nothing. And even if they get their own state, it's highly likely that they will not sign an accord like what you're saying but will instead attack Israel immediately, much like the 1948 War of Independence.

They should play nice, but that really seems like wishful thinking.

Your solution sounds wonderful. Too bad it will never take place. The World leaders are not as fair, peaceful, logical, and mature as you are. They have been trying all kinds of solutions that sound fair, but then they find many reasons not to proceed with them.

I'm not sure of your religion. I am sure there are people on both sides who are looking for such a solution. They are the victims. I myself am Jewish.
