Laptop lost wireless capability?

I have an acer aspire 5534. A few days ago i started it up and the wireless internet wasnt working. The only thing troubleshooting did was say to plug in an ethernet cable to get internet. This works, but it seems as if my computer has forgotten that its made to also connect wirelessly. There is an on/off button for wireless connectivity, and normally pushing it will alternate between radar symbols with or without a red circle and line (/). However, now when i push it it has a radar symbol with a solid red circle and a big white X. I restored it to factory settings today, with no luck fixing this problem. I'm thinking either a driver etc. got permanently deleted, or maybe there's a wireless chip/antenna that got damaged. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Try going to the manufacturer's website with another computer and download the drivers. Use a flash drive to transfer them. Or go to walmart and buy a wireless network usb adapter. You should have 15 days. If you buy the adpater and it works, then the wireless card is damaged. If it doesn't, return the adapter.

Sounds like a hardware problem. Probably the chip. Acer's a real crappy brand though...

at first menu right click on my laptop and choose cope with, then open gadget supervisor. double click on the instantaneous gadget (which would be showing a warning icon next to it) and click on reinstall motive force (first connect your pc to the internet via cable so as that it could acquire and set up the motive force immediately).
