How did they do this on Worst Cooks, Food Network Show.?

Okay. So the man cook made a perfect appitizer, and entree was rated great. His desert was good on 2 od 3 judges. The woman, had a less than perfect appetizer, her steak was burnt and the desert had apples that were not an appetizing color. She won, however. I like this show No rooting interest. But how did the man lose when his stuff was viewed as better?
